I was born and raised on a farm in south Africa, and immigrated to the USA in 1988. Currently I live in San Diego. Growing up on an isolated farm encouraged me to use my imagination to devise my own diversions and entertainment- my family describes me as a perpetual dreamer.
Using my imagination helped foster a creative career, first in the apparel industry and later in interior design. I initially began painting under the guidance of an art teacher whom I consulted for conceptual direction while in the clothing industry. Since then, I continue to use my imagination to compose my art from a unique perspective and use unorthodox methods and solutions to express myself. I am inspired by the conventional and I take pleasure in devising unusual methods and interpretations of my subjects. I prefer to approach my art obliquely, from a quirky perspective to create a challenge for myself and capture the interest of the viewer.
